FOUR FOODS TO AVOID AT ALL COSTS

This is according to Joy Bauer of Joy Bauer Nutrition and author of the #1 New York Times Bestseller "Food Cures".

MARGARINE - it is loaded with transfat. In order to make a liquid into a solid state, they hydrogenate. The more they hydrogenate vegetable oil to become stick margarine, the more transfat it is going to have. Butter is not good either, it is loaded with saturated fat. As an alternative, look for a soft tub spread, transfat-free.

HOTDOGS - it is 80% fat and not a protein food. It is the artery-clogging saturated fat. As an alternative, look for beef, turkey or soy hotdogs. When choosing turkey hotdogs, look for reduced fat turkey dog for the more healthy white meat.

COLA - liquid does not fill you up like food does. You can choose diet cola as an alternative and the FDA has said it is okay to drink diet cola, they advise use in moderation.

SWORDFISH - it is a high mercury fish and consuming large amounts carries a high risk for neurological disorders and heart disease. Pregnant women especially should avoid swordfish. A good choice would be salmon, sardines and shrimp.

FRENCH FRIES should be avoided as well.
